When used appropriately, essential oils and aromatherapy products are safe for all the entire family. As with all things in life though, some common sense precautions should be observed when using essential oils since they are highly concentrated.
Undiluted essential oils
Do not apply undiluted essential oils directly to the skin except in an emergency; for example to cuts, burns or insect bites. A single drop of undiluted Lavender, Tea Tree or Chamomile Roman oil can be used to soothe and protect from infection - but you should only apply them neat once or twice. Some individuals can become sensitised to neat Tea Tree oil if it is applied repeatedly.

Sourcing Essential Oils

We believe that essential oil quality control should begin at the earliest stage of production, preferably with inspection of the crop at the growing phase. This important aspect is often overlooked when considering quality issues, and this is why we have established close working relationships with growers around the world.
And sourcing and purchasing organic and conventional essential oils from remote areas around the world is not a job for either a novice or the faint-hearted, because mistakes can be very, very costly for a company, in terms of both money and loss of reputation.

Rose otto is the beautifully fragrant essential oil extracted from the species Rosa damascena, and it holds a special place in the hearts of all who love aromatherapy and natural perfumery. There is quite simply, no other essential oil quite like it in terms of fragrance and wealth of therapeutic healing benefits.
See Quinessence Bulgarian Rose Otto essential oil.
In Bulgaria, the rose blossoms begin to bloom around the third week of May and will continue for three or four weeks, depending upon climatic conditions. The yield of oil can be dramatically affected by the prevailing weather conditions - for example during very hot and dry weather the harvest may last only two weeks and the yield of the oil is lowered due to loss by evaporation. Conversely, during mild and humid weather the harvest time can be extended whilst at the same time increasing the oil yield.

“What’s the best way to look after my essential oils?” This is usually one of the first questions asked by newcomers to aromatherapy, and it is definitely worth knowing a few do’s and don’ts on this important subject. Why? Because the way that you look after your oils affects their shelf life, so these two subjects are inextricably linked.
Providing the oils were fresh when you purchased them, correct storage is most definitely the key to getting the most out of your oils. Both essential and vegetable oils do not like extreme, or repeated changes in temperature, and having spent your hard earned cash on all those wonderful oils, you need to make sure you look after them properly or their therapeutic properties may be lost.

Stress is the curse of living in modern times and it seems almost impossible to escape from. And despite what some people might say to the contrary, just about everyone suffers from stress at some point during a typical working day. The problem is, if we experience stress continually it can take a heavy toll on our mind, body and spirit.
In recent studies experts have determined that heart disease is linked to anger, and irritability is linked to mental stress. Too much stress can cause the blood flow to the heart to become restricted (cardiac ischemia) which can lead to a heart attack.

Essential Oil Purity

Using the finest quality essential oils is absolutely vital in aromatherapy. Why? Because the purity of the essential oils will determine how successful the treatment or products will be. In aromatherapy, you only receive textbook results when you use the very purest, highest quality, pure essential oils.
At best, essential oils that have been adulterated will simply not deliver the health benefits that you expect. At worst, there is the risk of serious skin irritation or sensitisation due to an adverse reaction to the synthetic chemicals that have been used to adulterate, extend or ’standardise’ the essential oil.
